Top 5 Ways To Find Your Mojo
Ever feel like some days you just lack a certain something that gets you going and no matter how hard you stare at the keyboard, your yoga mat or your 'to do' list you know that nothing is going to budge? Yep, me too! Especially after having spent the best part of a month travelling around Canada (amazing by the way!) and now facing reality and getting back to work is PAIN. FULL.
Thankfully I have a few sure fire ways to shake off the fog, reconnect with my goals and to dig deep and find that shiny motivation to get shiz done. Here are a handful of my tried and tested mojo boosting tips that may help put you back on track.
Balance- Everything in moderation, right? It's a popular saying for a reason. Study session followed by sunshine, fresh food allows for a treat, tackle the top few points on your list then enjoy your latest netflix obsession. It's all about balance.
Realistic- Assess the long list and prioritise the most urgent/ important. There's no way you'll get everything done every day, so set yourself a realistic daily to do list beginning with the horrid most daunting ones (you'll thank me later), then crank up the radio and blast through the mundane stuff whilst singing at the top of your lungs (sorry neighbours!).
Sleep tight- Lacking energy in the day can be due to many things but one essential part of kicking butt is to make sure you are well rested. Help yourself out by winding down for bed an hour or so before you jump in. Give yourself a little time to let go of the day, leave yourself a note for tomorrow if you must but then step away from the tasks. Take a bath, give yourself a foot massage, read your book, stretch it out and keep the screen time to a minimum.
Step away- Forcing things is never a good idea, it will only make you want to throw a hissy fit and that is kind of anti productive (although might be a good one to get the blood flowing... note to self, test this theory). When you hit a wall step away from your desk and get some air. Go for a walk around the park, take yourself out for lunch, call your mum for a quick catch up, do some yoga, listen to an informative podcast- just allow yourself time away to re calibrate your mind, to stretch your legs then have another go in an hour. Quit being mean to yourself and remember tip 1.
Inspiration- A great way to get me fired up and wanting to create is by taking in some inspiring work of others, whether that's reading a few of my favourite blogs, taking in a grad show exhibition, scrolling Instagram, mooching online at etsy, flicking through a fashion magazine, sometimes even just window shopping and taking in the current visual trends that spark your interest. Top up your creativity meter and watch how you blast through your list and then some.
