Near impossible as it was to narrow down a focus point, (their current and previous collections have been killing it recently) the Spring Summer 2010 collection Cutting Edge Couture just captured my heart and imagination and I really had to share these frothy, sharp works of art with you.
During a pivotal moment in the financial crisis, this political flavoured season saw Viktor & Rolf hacking into huge, voluminous tulle ball gowns to reflect the equally severe credit crunch. Each drilled through hole or sliced cross section of these gaspingly beautiful dresses was a literal translation of 'cutting back'.
Taking such a dramatic and drastic concept made quite the statement and drew audible gasps from the runway audience. The striking silhouettes mixed with the sugary sweet hues and the thickly packed layers balanced with the razor sharp edges made for maximum visual impact, playing with themes of geometry and illusion.
I will let the pictures do the talking and hope you find as much inspiration and escapism in these delicious images as I do, be prepared to revel in the sheer mastery of vision and construction!

Everything about this collection rocks my world and I could stare at those beautifully style Dazed and Confused features for hours! A fascinating glimpse back in time at a high concept work of haute couture with a message as shockingly relevant now as it was then.
